Mobs & lynchings
As a child of the 60's, I grew up during violent & ugly times. Whether or not I wanted to be, I was witness to mob violence & a lynching. It was probably the most horrible thing I will ever see in my life. As a small child, the anger, hate & violent ugliness of what so called normal folk turn into was terrifying, and as an adult, it still haunts my memories.
When you witness you family friends & neighbors turn into a giant monster & lynch a young kid not much older then you, simply because of the color of his skin, it is something that you can never forget, no matter how hard you try.
The horrors I witnessed during one hot summer even is something that I will live with until the day that I die.
As an adult, I stand against violence of any kind. I don't fight, and try to control my anger, and handle every situation with reason.
As for this episode, it is very good, although it is a little light handed on such a heavy topic. Because the writers too the easy way out & softened the subject matter, I'm only giving this 2 stars. If they had been a little more honest and stayed the course against the mob mentality, I would have rated it possible 4 or even 5 stars. But they didn't, and I can't. Sorry, but 2 stars is all I can give.
